Darrell F. Gilliam

Darrell F. Gilliam, age 77 of Fairborn, passed away Saturday December 14, 2024 at his residence. He was born November 6, 1947 in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, the son of the late Jake and Louise (Mawk) Gilliam.

 Darrell was a graduate of Fairborn High School, Class of 1967, and followed with service to his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam in the 25th Infantry Division. Following his military service he returned to Fairborn and was self-employed as a drywall hanger and finisher. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

 In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Marty Gilliam. He is survived by two sons, D.J. (Belinda) Gilliam, Stephen Penny; a daughter, Lisa Gilliam; six grandchildren, Tyler Denny, Hannah Fugate, Mason Gilliam, Myles Gilliam, Phoenix Penny, Maverick Gilliam; a sister, Lois Gilliam; nieces and nephews, Tonya Smith and her daughter Emylee, Jake Gilliam, Heather Gilliam; longtime friend, Moe Yerian; as well as other extended family and friends.

 A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday December 22, 2024 from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. Military honors will be rendered by the United States Army honor guard at the conclusion of the visitation.
