Claire S. Harsh, age 92 of Fairborn passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday May 13, 2018. She was born August 18, 1925 in Cedarville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Meryl and Louisa (Greer) Stormont. Claire retired as a teacher with New Carlisle Bethel Schools after 23 years of service. She was a longtime member of Bath Presbyterian Church; enjoyed traveling and writing letters to many friends. Claire was a bookkeeper at Cedarville College where she met her future husband, Ted. She assisted in the editing of “….And Ladies of the Club”, written by Helen Hoover Santmeyer. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; three siblings, Margaret French, Harold Stormont, Mary Louise Huffman; a granddaughter, Chelsea Keeton. She is survived by three children, Pete (Terri) Harsh, Deb (Brad) Hitchcock, Abbie (Jack) Keeton; 7 grandchildren, Ellery Clark, Meika Robinson, Kate MacDougall, Hannah Ross, Callie Purvis, Graham Keeton, Molly Hitchcock; 5 great-grandchildren; as well as many extended family. A funeral service will be held on Friday May 18, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the Belton- Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor Emily Haddox officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the service. Burial will follow at the Byron Cemetery. If desired, memorial contribution may be made to Fairborn FISH food pantry.
