Charles G. Grimmett, age 82 of Fairborn, passed away Saturday December 23, 2017. He was born August 18, 1935 in Prescott, Arkansas, the son of the late Randolph and Virgie (Harris) Grimmett. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during Korea and Vietnam, retiring at the rank of SMSgt; he then followed employment with civil service retiring after 41 years of combined service. Charles was a member of Amvets Post 148 in Medway, VFW 6861 and American Legion Post 526, both of Fairborn. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and traveling. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Wallace; and step-father, James “Papa Jack” Baker. He is survived by five children, Kim (Jack) Finlayson, Cathy (Stuart) Humphries , William Louderback, Matthew (Wendy) Louderback, Wally (Liane) Grimmett; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Phillips; as well as many extended family members. A funeral service will be held on Saturday January 6, 2018 at 1:00 PM in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of service. Burial with military honors will follow at Dayton Memorial Park.
