Charles L. Benner, age 84 of Fairborn passed away January 27, 2024.  He was born January 12, 1940 in Greenfield, Ohio, the son of the late John and Mildred (Truitt) Benner.  Charles was a research chemist with the University of Dayton, retiring after 38 years of service.  He was a longtime member of Fairborn United Methodist Church and attended Faith Ignited Church.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing Farmville.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Sue.  Charles is survived by a son, Christopher; grandsons, Christopher (Darian) and Leighton; two great-grandchildren, Aiden, Serenity; a brother, James Benner; niece, Shelly (Chuck) Rayburn; two nephews, Dany (Willa) Benner, Jeff (Samantha) Benner; as well as extended family and friends. The family will receive friends on Monday February 5, 2024 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday February 6, 2024 at 11:00 A.M., Pastor Aaron Chivington officiating.  Charles will be buried next to his wife at the Valleyview Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fairborn United Methodist Church -or- Faith Ignited.
