Carl V. Smith

Carl V. Smith, age 82 of Jamestown passed away Saturday April 29, 2023.  He was born October 14, 1940 in Ashland, Kentucky, the son of the late Carl and Cora (Fannin) Smith.  Carl graduated from The Ohio State University with a Master’s degree and went on to teach at Dayton public schools, retiring after 30 years of service.  He enjoyed traveling with his wife in their airstream; and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.  Carl is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty; son, Teil (Helen) Smith; three grandchildren, Zachary, Tyler, Ian; sister, Carolyn (James) Maurice; two brothers, Harold (Carolyn) Smith, Gary Smith; as well as extended family and friends.  A funeral will be held on Friday May 5, 2023 at 12 noon at the Byron Church, 3230 Trebein Rd., Fairborn, Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.  Burial will follow at Byron Cemetery.
