Brent Douglas Phillips

October 28, 1961 — October 3, 2023

Brent Douglas Phillips of Sandy Springs, Georgia, formerly of Fairborn, passed away October 3, 2023 after a courageous battle with cholangiocarcinoma.

Brent was born on October 28, 1961 in Windsor, Missouri. He graduated from Fairborn Baker High School in 1980. Brent then attended the University of Cincinnati where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration in 1985. While at Cincinnati, he was a member of the Alpha Theta Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity. Brent went on to further his education at Vanderbilt University - Owen Graduate School of Management where he earned his Masters of Business Administration in 1988. Following his education, Brent relocated to Atlanta to begin his career in the finance industry. He retired from the state of Georgia after twenty-three years as the Chief of Technology Officer -Division of Investment Services Teachers Retirement System Employees’ Retirement System.

Brent enjoyed traveling, cooking & baking, strategic games, Lego building, and was an avid Star Trek fan. He will be remembered for his generous spirit and unconditional love especially when it came to his husband, family, friends and beloved dogs, Oskar and Penny. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

In his memory, treat yourself to a good meal, the best bottle of wine or your favorite whiskey. “It doesn’t matter where you go in life…what you do…or how much you have…it’s who you have beside you.”

Brent is survived by his husband of 15 years, Tony Chaffin; parents, Howard and Anita Phillips; sister, Natalie Reeser (Kerry); niece and Goddaughter, Mackenzie Conaboy (Graham); and nephew, Logan Mills.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 28, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 456 Woodman Dr., Dayton.
