Brenda Kay Hicks, age 71 of Fairborn, passed away June 5, 2018. She was born January 20, 1947 in Boone Co., West Virginia, the daughter of William and Thelma (McCormick) Brown. Brenda was employed with Fairborn City Schools, retiring with over 20 years of service. She enjoyed sewing, playing the piano, singing gospel music, baking, canning, caring for stray animals, helping others, and spending time with her grandchildren and family. Brenda is preceded in death by her father, William Brown; husband, Edward Hicks; daughter, Celeta Linville; two siblings, Billy Brown, Bonna Abling. She is survived by her mother, Thelma Greer; two sons, William Hicks, Butch (Bobbie) Abling; nine grandchildren, Christopher Clary, Courtney Linville, Timothy Hicks, Kathrine Abling-Vecchetti, Douglas Linville, Amanda Potter, Katelyn Linville, Alexander Abling, Samuel Abling; two great-grandchildren, Cloe Hicks, Amelia Potter; a sister, Linda Weaver; as well as other extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held on Saturday June 9, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor Buck Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Byron Cemetery.
