Betty Jean Laprade

Betty Jean Laprade, age 90 of Kettering, passed away August 5, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born November 13, 1933 in Himyar, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Spencer and Mary (Carnes) Baker. She was a faithful member of Cassel Hills Church of Christ in Vandalia.  Betty enjoyed shopping, crafts and reading.  She loved life, her family, and attended many sports activities for her great-grandchildren.  Betty had a special bond with her daughter, Carol, and shared many special memories.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by bonus mom, Eppise Baker; two husbands, Stanley Spicer, Walter Laprade; two infant sisters, brother, Rudolph Baker; niece, Sherry Baker Snow.  Betty is survived by her daughter, Carol (Michael) Hazlett; three grandchildren, Kaytlin (Larry) Draughn, Alexander (Kayla) Hazlett. Emily (John) Lambert; great-grandchildren, Garon, Addison, Pearson, Ava, Ariya, Athena, Rowen; brother, Curtis (Sue) Baker; three nephews, Gerald, Rudolph Jr., Jerry Baker; as well as extended family and many friends. A funeral service will be held on Friday August 9, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Ministers Scott Spencer and David Edmonds officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.  Burial will follow at the Byron Cemetery.  If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Semper Fi & America’s Fund at 825 College Blvd., Suite 102 * PMB 609 Oceanside, CA 92057.
