Betty Corinne (Quinn) Crichton, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on February 26, 2025, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 28, 1926, in Providence, Rhode Island, the daughter of the late Edward Wheeler Sr. and Helen (McClain) Quinn. Betty was married to Paul F. Crichton on October 28, 1949. Betty's life was marked by her dedication to her faith, family, and community.
Throughout her life, Betty was a source of love and support to her six children, Stephanie Ataman, Daniel Crichton, Melinda (Ron) Eubel, Susan Bendrick, Paul (Robin) Crichton, and Cathy (Chuck) Barnes. Her devotion as a mother extended to her twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, all of whom are blessed to have had her in their lives. Betty is also survived by her sister, Patsy Secrist; her former daughter-in-law, Denise Crichton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. The number of people whose lives were impacted by Betty’s love, kindness and generosity are innumerable.
Betty attended Marietta College, she was also in the oldest women's fraternity at Marietta college, Chi Omega. Betty was an active member of St. Christopher’s church in Fairborn for over 50 years. Deeply engaged in her church community, she participated actively in the altar guild and choir. As a member of the Episcopal Church Women, Betty lovingly and proudly gave her time and talent to modify clothing articles to assist injured soldiers returning home after Desert Storm and Desert Shield. Her passion for music and her skill at the piano were just a few of the many talents she shared with those around her. Betty had a love for life that included hobbies such as cooking, playing Bridge, gardening and traveling with family and friends to places such as Israel, Romania, Scotland, and many other European countries. Any mention of potential travel resulted in Betty pulling out her cherished set of maps and wanting to learn all the details of any upcoming adventure. She yearned to learn new things each and every day and often questioned anyone in her presence as to what they were doing and where they had been.
In 2017, Betty was inducted into The Society of St. Simeon and St. Anna which celebrates exemplary Christian ministry. The purpose is to recognize, honor, and celebrate the wisdom, experience, maturity, and achievements of older persons in the Diocese of Southern Ohio.
A spirited dancer, Betty cherished her time dancing with her beloved husband, Paul Crichton, who preceded her in death. Betty and Paul were often the stars of the show at any wedding or event featuring dancing. They enjoyed 40 years of marriage prior to Paul’s death in 1990.
Betty remained fiercely independent throughout her entire life, maintaining her ability to drive until she was 95 years old and insisting on maintaining her home of more than 50 years. She demonstrated her strong will and determination to help friends and family in any way she could. Her daily mantra? Move it or lose it! It served her well.
We would like to thank Sherri, Abby, Sara, Kathy, and Shandon for their loving hands and spirit in her life the past two years and the staff at Friends Care Community.
