Bertha E. Schmitz

Bertha E. Schmitz, age 89 of Fairborn, formerly of Lakeview and Dayton, passed away on Saturday December 8, 2018 at her home.  Bertha was born in Fayetteville, Ohio on October 14, 1929, the daughter of the late Walter and Eulalia (Berger) Moore.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; three sisters; three brothers; two grandchildren; and two sons-in-law.  On July 31, 1948 she married Robert W. Schmitz in Vera Cruz, Ohio.  She is survived by two sons, Robert (Debbie) Schmitz of Cincinnati, Gary (Renee) Schmitz of Troy; four daughters, Cheryl Penney of Dayton, Sandy Collins of Wylie, TX, Debbie Hilgeford of Fairborn, Cindy (Randy) Boschert of St. Peters, MO; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Clara Whitaker of Maineville; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.  Bertha was a homemaker who dearly loved her family.  She was currently a member of Mary, Help of Christians Church in Fairborn, and a past member of St. Mary of the Woods in Russells Point, Ohio.  Father Tom Nevels will conduct a funeral mass on Wednesday December 12, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mary, Help of Christians Church, 954 N Maple Ave, Fairborn.  The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service.  Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.  If desired, memorial contribution may be made to Hospice of Dayton -or- Mary, Help of Christians Church.
