Arnold Adkins

Arnold Adkins, age 88 of Sugarcreek Twp., passed away Saturday December 16, 2017.  He was born January 14, 1929 in Elk Fork, KY, the son of the late Willie Gardner and Edna Frances (Rowland) Adkins.  Arnold retired in 1991 and was a lifetime member of Operating Engineers, Local 18.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Gabbard; and two sisters, Anna Lou Ferguson and Donna Jean Ferguson.  He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Edith; five children, Mark Anthony (Jean) Adkins, Deby (Roger) Moore, Greg Adkins (Sharon Farquer) Michelle (Henry) Gabbard, Doug (Pam) Adkins; nine grandchildren, Angi, Marci, Nikki, Mark, Kim, Kris, Scott, Stephanie, Ryan; many great-grandchildren; sister, Freda Armstrong; brother, Gary (Janet) Adkina; as well as nieces, nephews, other extended family; and his beloved dog, Walter.  A funeral service will be held on Thursday December 21, 2017 at 12:00 noon at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor Bobby Jenkins officiating.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.  Burial will follow at the Byron Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
