Anne Prevatt Bockstedt, age 90 passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020 in Fairborn, Ohio. At her side were her devoted and adoring children and grandchildren. Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Curtis Lee Bockstedt, Sr., also of Fairborn; her parents, Issac Prevatt and Corene Riley of Savannah, Georgia; and son-in-law, Tony P. Chapman of Fairborn.
Anne was born February 25, 1930 in Ridgeland, South Carolina. She is survived by three children, Paula Markus of Lexington, Kentucky, Joan Chapman of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Paul C. Bockstedt Jr. (Nancy) of Boise, Idaho; six grandchildren, Jason Chapman (Samantha) of Knoxville, TN, Kathryn Chapman Rice (Andy) of Kernersville, NC, Elizabeth Markus Adams (Paul) of Lexington, KY, James Markus of Bluffton, SC, Paul Curtis Lee Bockstedt III of Glendive, MT, Lucas Bockstedt of Boise, ID; great-grandchildren, Finley Chapman of Knoxville, TN and Peter Adams of Lexington, KY.
Anne grew up in the lowcountry of South Carolina and Georgia where she lived until her marriage to the love of her life Paul C. Bockstedt in 1950.
Anne became a military wife and supported her husband’s career as a nuclear engineer as they moved from Alabama, Maine, Virginia, Wyoming, and Ohio.
Anne’s extensive travels continued when her husband joined Bechtel Corporation of San Francisco, CA. They traveled the world but kept Fairborn as their home base after Paul retired from the USAF. Anne maintained lifelong friends from her globetrotting in Australia, South East Asia, Europe and Canada. Her children accompanied their parents on worldwide expeditions whenever possible.
Being a Southern lady, Anne entertained on a grand scale whether in her home in Indonesia or in Fairborn. She welcomed everyone and accepted them without question.
Anne also enjoyed some of the simpler things in life: gardening, collecting exotic butterflies in South East Asia, genealogy and needlepoint. Anne was a member of the Easter Start, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Prevatt Historical Society and the Cincinnati Cadillac Club. Anne was a loving and caring mother, always present and approachable to her children and grandchildren. She kept close tabs on her children through her volunteer work in the community as a parent room mother, PTA President, Boy and Girl Scouts leader, and Red Cross Volunteer. She delighted in her grandchildren and will always be cherished and held close to our hearts as we celebrate her life.
A private memorial service was held by the family at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
