Albert W. "Al" Koning

USAF Capt. (Ret.) Albert W. “Al” Koning, Jr., age 85 of Fairborn, passed away Thursday December 5, 2019.  He was born February 1, 1934 in Muskegon, Michigan, the son of the late Albert W., Sr. and Alice M. (Watts) Koning.  Al selflessly served his country in the US Army and US Air Force, retiring at the rank of Captain, after 20 years of combined military service. He also served his country as a civil servant for more than 20 years. He enjoyed guitar, theater, singing, and obtained his private pilot’s license.  Al is survived by his spouse, Linda Koning; two daughters, Karen (Brian) Hobson, Ann (Chet) Adkins; ten grandchildren, Kathleen (Jack) Miller, Nicholas (Heather) Harvey, Kyle Campbell (Fonda), Abby (Joe) Buchholz, Emily (Tristen) Wolfe, Rafael Toro, Brian (Veronica) Hobson, Tiffany (Patrick) Todd, Carter Adkins, Paul Jr. (Jenny) Adkins, twenty-five great-grandchildren; sister, Jane Ann (Dave) Babbitt; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday December 11, 2019 at 1:00 P.M., Pastor Daniel Powell officiating.  The family will receive friends from 11:30 A.M. until the time of service.  Burial with military honors will follow at Byron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice in his name.
