Kelley Shroyer Obituary

Kelley A. Butler Shroyer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at her home. She was 53 years old.

Kelley was born on January 5, 1971, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, to the late Franklin D. and Carolyn J. (Goldsberry) Butler. She was preceded in death by her brother, Neil F. Goldsberry, her sister, Rebecca J. Goldsberry Church, her father-in-law, Donald E. Shroyer, and her brother-in-law, Jeffrey A. Metz.

Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband of 28 years, Darryl Shroyer, and their four sons, whom she adored: George Shroyer of Fairborn, Ohio; Dean Wells of Beavercreek, Ohio; Evan Wells of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Cole (Emilee) Shroyer of Fairborn, Ohio. Kelley also leaves behind her precious granddaughter, Bentleigh Peyton Wells, and grandson, Grant Christopher Shroyer, with whom she shared a special bond.

Kelley is survived by her brother, Jon (Jennifer) Butler, sister-in-law Stephanie (John) Boyer of Alabama, and her special mother-in-law, Beverly Shroyer of Beavercreek, Ohio. She is also remembered fondly by numerous nephews, a niece, and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Throughout her life, Kelley found companionship and joy in her two beautiful blue point Siamese cats, Dominick and Greyson.

A devoted family woman, Kelley's main focus in life was her husband, sons, and grandchildren. She poured her heart and soul into nurturing and supporting them, finding fulfillment in their happiness and well-being.

Kelley had a passion for cooking and baking, and she cherished the moments spent gathered around the table with her loved ones. Whether hosting dinners, family gatherings, or holiday celebrations, she found immense joy in these shared experiences, feeling most complete when surrounded by her cherished family.

Professionally, Kelley dedicated many years as a Project Manager at Appen, a company committed to utilizing Artificial Intelligence for Good. She valued her work and cherished the relationships she formed with her colleagues.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Hellan and Dr. Nanda, as well as the compassionate oncology nurses at Kettering Cancer Care in Kettering, Ohio, and Soin Medical Center in Beavercreek, Ohio. Special thanks are also extended to Dr. Mittra at The James Cancer Center at The Ohio State University for their dedicated care, which greatly impacted Kelley's quality of life.

Kelley's final wish was to advocate for early detection of colon cancer. She urged everyone aged 45 and older to prioritize their health by scheduling a colonoscopy, especially if there's a family history of colon cancer. She emphasized that early detection saves lives and encouraged others not to delay this vital screening.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society in honor of Kelley's legacy of love and advocacy.

Kelley's warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to those whose lives she touched.

A private service will be held by the family.
